Manhattanhedge 2011

my hometown and nature ABSOLUTELY inspire me- which explains why when i heard about "Manhattanhedge" i ran to the streets [literally!]

"Manhattanhedge" is an annual sun show where the sun lines up with the city streets -technically called "city grid"- of the island of Manhattan. apparently it happens in a variety of places- Detroit and Montreal to name a few.

my choice for viewing was none other than 42nd street!

hilarious was seeing 42nd street come to a STANDSTILL with folks setting up tripods, running out into the street as traffic lights changed (see pic 2!)

sorry my shots arent the best but the experience was SURREAL!
in this instance the ENTIRE sun was set to set ABOVE the horizon [the following day wouldve been half] and i have to tell you as i watched this HUMONGOUS SOLAR BALL creep into position and FLOOD the ENTIRE street in a GOLDEN/ORANGE hue i had to stop and think about God's AWESOME handiwork!!

and just so you know the EXACT moment/alignment happened in pic #5!!!

so for all who were there "shout out to you" and to nic and rivers- my movie buff friends- for telling me my shots looked like Armageddon!! "whatever! *flips hair" [end scene] LOL!
